They risk their lives for Queen and country abroad, but many are paid less than a trainee police officer or fire fighter. It's time we gave ordinary rank and file soldiers a level of pay which reflects the danger that their job entails. Gordon Brown has found the money to employ an army of over 1000 new press officers in the Ministry of Defence. The Liberal Democrats believe this money would be better spent giving our soldiers the pay they deserve! Find out more at NickClegg.com. New Homes, New Jobs!
People are desparate for jobs and housing right now. But we must not allow Gordon Brown to just build all over our green spaces. Instead, we must invest in fixing up the thousands of empty houses across the city, to both help create jobs, and to help solve the city's housing crisis. The cost of the scheme would be paid back from the rents of the houses. It really is that simple! Cut Tax NOW!
The Lib Dems think that most people pay too much tax. We want to make the first £10,000 you earn TAX FREE. This would mean an average tax cut of £700 per year and would mean people earning minimum wage or in a part time job would pay little or no tax at all! It would be paid for by making sure that millionaires pay their fair share, by closing tax loop holes and putting a tax on houses worth over £2 million. Find out more at libdems.org.uk.
